busy, and I don't need to pressure anyone to work with me as a photographer. I'll
just talk to you about your portraits, and help you discover what your
photographs could be like.

MYTH - FORMAL PORTRAITS ARE JUST THAT - FORMAL - STIFF,
UNCOMFORTABLE, UNNATURAL, NOT THE REAL YOU
It's a shame most people feel that way. Family portraits do not have to be boring.
They do not have to be stiff, unreal, unnatural, or uncomfortable. In fact, they
should not be any of those things.
A lot of studio portraits look unnatural. Portraits of your family should show the
love and affection you feel for one another. Your family portraits should evoke an
emotional reaction.
In addition to the full family portraits, I create portraits of each of your family
members. I also create different groupings to show off the different relationships
you each share. Imagine photos of Mom with children, Mom with daughter, Dad
with son, Mom and Dad together, the kids together - the list is as complete as
you want it! (and of course I have suggestions)
You want to show off who your family really is and all the relationships you have.
No portrait session can be complete without showing all of the bonds.
HOW DO I KNOW I'VE CHOSEN THE RIGHT PHOTOGRAPHER?
This is a very natural question and one I think every professional photographer
should be willing to answer.
If you do your research and get all of your questions answered before hiring a
photographer and before spending a dime, then you should be ok. Every
professional photographer out there should be willing to answer your questions for
free.
I'm not talking about just the basic questions - price, time, location, etc., but
also the tougher questions. You should be able to see a portfolio, talk with
references, meet or talk with the photographer, get a guarantee.
You should like the photographer and his or her style. You should get the feeling
that the photgrapher is genuinely interested in you and your family - you never
want to feel the photographer is just there to take your photos.
These are all things I do and feel everyone should do. You are trusting me to
capture your family's history. You cannot be successful if I cannot offer you more
than I propose evey photographer should offer.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO RIGHT NOW?
